MUSIC

SMALL SINS

Self titled album from that band from Toronto, it looks like all the indie bands from Canada really know how to make music. Nicest pop with electronic touches that you will be able to listen in the dancefloor or in your more relaxing moments.

PONI HOAX

Yep, it is mainly an electro album, but don't run away just thinking "I'm pop, electro is not for me". When you listen songs from that french band like She's in the Radio or Budapest you may think that maybe electro is not that bad...

Check it pout here.

They mark their arrival with the striking single 'You And Me', providing an incredible mix of driving guitar lines, strong vocals and unforgettable hooks. As with their geographic backgrounds, each member brought with them overtly different musical influences. "It's so hard to describe our sound" explains Johnny. "There are so many elements and influences on this record".

Finally, On August 28th, Sunshine Underground has released their awaited debut album: Raise the alarm, by City Rockers, produced by stellar tag team Steve Dub (Chemical Brothers) and Segs (The Ruts), Robert Harder and Dan Kahuna.

Bringing a danceable sensibility to the regionally-accented angular guitar antics so popular at the moment, they are the tip for 2006. It has great songs such as Commercial breakdown, I Ain’t losing any sleep, and Put you in your place.

I recommend you to buy the album and enjoy their great music and listen to them here.

THE RAPTURE - PIECES OF THE PEOPLE WE LOVE

The Rapture follow up their much lauded debut Echoes with a record that includes the astounding single: Get Myself Into It. This is the sound of a band more focused, having too much fun and without a thought to any hipster pre-conceptions that might be held of them. It's the sound of a party to which everyone is invited...

Two years after the self-titled succesful album, Kasabian, the band able to mix perfectly electronic and rock is back (even with one member less). Empire will be realeased 28th August and it has been produced by Jim Abbiss (Editors, Ladytron, Arctic Monkeys). Pure panic for the dancefloors.

THE HANDSOME FAMILY - THE LAST DAYS OF WONDER

Don't panic!!!!!!!

When this album starts to play in your hi-fi stereo or in your mp3, do not let the panic overwhelm you, don't worry!! please, you are not gonna start wearing cowboy boots or a cowboy hat, you won't grow sideburns, or your accent isn't gonna change to a texas one, neither in the worst case scenario will you start to think that bush is a great president. For you bush will stay under the bigger trees (or in a crap bag), you will continue to wear your worn-out sneakers, dress in striped t-shirts and continue to go to the pop-o-matic parties each month.Leave out your prejustices, and let this music lead you and youwill find a handful of good songs of independant-unhurried-country without false pretensions.

YELLO - OH YEAH OH SIX (The Remixes Part 1)

ALBUM OF THE MONTH - FIONN REGAN

Knowing Chuloplaya you wouldn't believe that irish people could do things like that. But even doubting about his roots, we have to be happy about this Fionn Regan - The End Of The History. An album you won't listen in any dancefloor and they won't probably talk about it in NME, but and album that wil make you have a bit more red heart and maybe a bit bigger as well.

Listen some songs here.

THE PIPETTES - WE ARE THE PIPETTES

After a string of increasingly wonderful singles, such as Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me and Pull Shapes, here it is their debut album of these three English girls from the ‘60 style, We Are The Pipettes, which is full of classically formed and catchy melodies with choruses. This album was released on July 17 and on August 14 in the rest of Europe. Probably, one of the best pop albums of the year.

Read more things about them and listen to their singles here.

CAPTAIN - GLORIUS

Second single taken from the forthcoming debut album This is Hazelville. Glorious, following Broke, is another catchy indie pop tune, sounding like a cross between Prefab Sprout and Deacon Blue. The album will be released on August 14th.
